The 2016 Mahindra New Age XUV500 W8 Variant seven-seater has been launched in Australia in both 2WD and AWD variants.

MAHINDRA FIRST LAUNCHED the XUV500 in Australia back in 2012, now the refreshed New Age XUV500 has arrived Down Under in six-speed manual form (the automatics will launch here in May). Pricing for the W8 2WD 6-speed manual is $28,900 drive away while the AWD variant is $32,900 drive away.

Under the bonnet is a turbocharged 2.2-litre m-Hawk engine that delivers 103kW and 330Nm of torque, which is enough, if this sort of thing concerns you in a vehicle like this, to get from 0-96km/h in just 5.4 seconds. It returns a combined 6.7L/100km and the fuel tank is 74 litres. It runs McPherson struts up front and independent multilink suspension in the rear.

So, what’s different from the two models? The New Age XUV500 gets a new front grille with chrome inserts, new static bending headlamps with stylish light guides, unique fog lamps with chrome bezel, premium chrome window lining, 17-inch alloys and rear chrome appliqué. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, and leather seats round out the key changes.
