The 2016 Bentley Bentayga will be officially revealed later year, but that doesn’t stop Bentley releasing regular teasers, this one shows the rough roader being tested off-road.

BENTLEY IS HOPING to capitalise on the rush to buy luxury rough-roaders, and will reveal the Bentley Bentayga later this year. Power is expected to come from a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine as well as a new twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 TSI that produces 447kW and 900Nm of torque.  A plug-in hybrid variant is expected to join the lineup in 2017.

In this latest teaser video, Bentley shows its low-isn riding Bentayga tackling some rough tracks in Spain. It doesn’t look like the Bentayga will knock off the Range Rover as the king of luxury off-roaders, and it’s unlikely owners would ever tackle the sort of track the mule in the video is… an underbody shot clearly shows the lack of underbody protection.

Bentley isn’t the only unlikely source of a rough roader, with Lotus saying it too will build a crossover of a similar size to the Porsche Macan but lower, so it’s likely to be particularly useless off road.
