Oops… 2020 Toyota Yaris Hybrid images leak
Toyota’s Ford Fiesta and Mazda 2 rival has been revealed ahead of its scheduled debut.
IMAGES OF TOYOTA’S upcoming fourth-generation Toyota Yaris reveal it will bring much more aggressive styling and a hybrid drivetrain option.
On the back of unofficial images leaking to the internet last night, German website Auto-motor-und-sport posted a series of official images of the new Toyota Yaris, likely ahead of the instructed embargo given there has not been an official announcement.
The images show styling for the new small hatch is inspired by the new Toyota Corolla and C-HR outside, with a contrasting black roof over the body paint. We also see the first images of the interior, the Yaris adopting much of the Corolla’s same interior layout including an 8.0-inch central infotainment system.
We can also see that the model is a hybrid with detailed images of its battery-electric setup in the chassis.
The model will make its public debut later this month at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan, where it is currently marketed as the Vitz. It will also go on sale in Europe and later next year in Australia as the Yaris.
Built on Toyota’s new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) the Yaris adopts a revised shortened version dubbed the GA-B platform. That gives it a lower centre of gravity and more rigid body construction than before, and Toyota will spin off a sporty version called the GR Yaris, which has already been seen testing at the Nurburgring in Germany.
Full details will be announced later this month at the Tokyo Motor Show.
