725hp 2015 Ford Mustang Rocket revealed

Galpin Auto Sports and Henrik Fisker have taken the wraps off their 725hp 2015 Ford Mustang Rocket at the LA Motor Show.

GALPIN AUTO SPORTS (GAS) and Henrik Fisker, former Aston Martin design boss and the man behind the short-lived, plug-in hybrid electric Fisker Karma claim their low-volume, carbon-fibre bodied reimagining of the 2015 Mustang is the “ultimate American muscle car”. Hmm.

GAS and Fisker claim the design is inspired by Mustangs from the 1960s and ‘70s, including the 1968 Mustang Shelby GT500. “Anchored by an imposing hexagonal carbon fiber grill — which is split by a polished aluminum bar and wild horse running across the horizon reminiscent of the ’60‘s Mustangs—the Rocket’s lines emanate from the front, through the long hood, over a set of sculptured flared fenders and converge on its integrated rear spoiler, belying the car’s extreme power and refined athleticism,” a statement reads.

“I wanted to do something really special when the new Mustang came out. When Henrik showed me his designs I got chills – it’s literally the most beautiful Mustang I have ever seen,” said Beau Boeckmann, president at Galpin Auto Sports.

Details are very thin, but GAS has said the engine is a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that thumps out 725hp or 540kW, and that it gets Brembo brakes and independent and adjustable suspension front and rear. But that’s about it. GAS hasn’t released pricing yet, but it says the Mustang Rocket will go into production from next month with deliveries beginning in early 2015.

“Ford’s engineers and Moray Callum’s design team did an amazing job with the new Mustang,” Henrik Fisker said. “So good in fact, I think the design additions and power upgrades we have made to the car help it play in a higher league, against much more expensive supercars.”

What do you think, have Fisker and GAS succeeded in creating the next evolution of the 2015 Ford Mustang? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
