Volkswagen has built a people mover
A new model from Volkswagen has been seen ahead of its unveil, though it’s unlikely we’ll ever see this people mover arrive Down Under.
Volkswagen’s yet-to-be-announced MPV has been spied in China.
The boxy MPV might be a touch on the nose – despite being more practical and spacious than most popular SUVs – but Volkswagen is building its own people mover to take on the Chinese car market. It will compete there against rivals such as the Honda Odyssey and Buick GL8.
Named the Viloran, it joins a lineup of unique models in China like the Tayron, Tycan (no, not like the Porsche Taycan) and Tylcon. The car will be built by VW-Shanghai on the MQB platform, according to CarNewsChina, and is expected to be sold in China from around 300,000 Yuan, or about $60,000AUD.

Next to Chinese lettering on the rear is a 380 TSI badge, indicating the model will be powered by a variation of VW’s EA888 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing about 165kW. From the pictures, we can also see the interior will bring a large touchscreen but a generation behind from VW’s latest design and materials.
The VW Viloran is expected to make its debut later this year.
