The Suzuki Kizashi is being recalled in Australia due to a belt tensioner being incorrectly manufactured.

SUZUKI AUSTRALIA has announced it is recalling the Suzuki Kizashi due to a “The belt tensioner that drives the engine accessories has been manufactured incorrectly. This may cause the belt to come off and warning lamps to illuminate,” Suzuki said in a statement.

Affected vehicles were built between 29 November 2013 and 5 December 2014.

Suzuki has warned drivers who ignore the warning lamps that “If the vehicle continues to be driven, the engine temperature gauge reading will become high and in some cases the engine will be damaged and may stop and not restart, posing a potential accident hazard to the driver and other road users.”

Suzuki said it had contacted affected owners and advised of the next step. If you own a Kizashi built between November 2013 and December 2014 and you haven’t yet heard from Suzuki, you should contact your local Suzuki dealer.
