Skoda Octavia RS 230 on-sale in Australia from $41,490+ORC
The limited-edition Skoda Octavia RS 230 is on-sale in Australia now from $41,490+ORC and is available in both sedan and wagon variants.
THE SKODA OCTAVIA RS is the most popular Octavia variant accounting for 40% of all sales, and now the limited-edition (140) Skoda Octavia 230 is available Down Under. The Octavia RS 230 is the most powerful production Octavia and is priced from $41,490+ORC in sedan form, and $43,190+ORC as a wagon.
In a statement, Skoda Australia Managing Director Michael Irmer said this limited edition had been obtained with a view to rewarding enthusiasts.
“The RS 230 has more power, a stronger spread of torque and – of course – a slick six-speed manual,” Irmer said. “We have obtained 70 in both sedan and wagon form so far, but are looking to secure more.
“Consider this also a preview of future editions of the Octavia RS.”
The Octavia RS 230 (named because of its horsepower output) makes 169kW at 6200rpm and 350Nm of torque from 1500-4600rpm. It needs 98RON fuel and is Euro6 compliant. It’ll get to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and it runs a six-speed manual only.
There’s more to the Octavia RS 230 than just more power as it’s the first Skoda to get an “electronically controlled front axle inter-wheel lock (VAQ)”. That’s a fancy way of saying the system can shuffle 100% of drive from one wheel to the other depending on grip levels.
The RS 230 gets glossy black body bits, including the 19-inch alloys, rear spoiler, door mirrors, front grille and exhaust tailpipe. The black exhaust tailpipe and the rear spoiler are exclusive to the Octavia RS 230, as is a lap timer function in the car’s colour multifunction display. Do let us know if your car has a lap timer and you’ve ever used it…
The black theme continues on the inside with black leather-appointed sports seats (electrically adjustable) with red stitching, a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel wrapped in leather with contrasting red stitching and a bespoke RS plaque, RS inscriptions in the door sill strips, and stainless steel foot pedals with rubber inserts
A cost optional Tech Pack ($1700) offers: Automatic Parking Assist, Lane Assist and keyless entry and start, and a Canton sound system, which features 10 loudspeakers and a digital equaliser.
