A refreshed 2018 Nissan Patrol will launch in Australia later this year with stock of the existing Y62 Patrol all but exhausted, according to dealers and buyers…
NISSAN AUSTRALIA HAS confirmed to Practical Motoring it will launch a facelifted Patrol in the “future” which, given the current predicament we’re taking to mean later this year. Practical Motoring’s sister site, Practical Motoring 4×4 received many emails and messages via Facebook from readers saying Nissan dealers were telling them stock of the Y62 Patrol was limited because a new model was on its way…
Practical Motoring spoke with Nissan Australia yesterday which confirmed that stock of the current Y62 Nissan Patrol was limited and that an update is indeed on its way. With supply already constrained and dealers no longer accepting forward orders, we’d suggest the refreshed Patrol will be here later this year.
Nissan Australia’s General Manager Corporate Communications, Karla Leach said: “The Patrol Y62 SUV is a popular Nissan model in many markets, including Australia. This strong global demand means local new-vehicle stocks of this model are currently limited.
“Nissan’s commitment to continuous improvement means an update for the Patrol Y62 is planned, details of which will be the subject of a future announcement”.
Beyond this there’s no other information to go on, but our sister site Practical Motoring 4×4 has speculated the refreshed Patrol is likely to see the current vehicle’s V8 dumped for the V6 engine introduced into Middle East markets, with a diesel still unlikely. We do know that Nissan has been working on a Navara-based 4×4 wagon which was spied often around the middle of last year. There’s a possibility Nissan could roll this out alongside the Patrol giving it something to go head to head with the Ford Everest and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Whether it would carry the Patrol name or rather a derivation, like Patrol Sport remains to be seen.

Nissan and Infiniti are doing badly, no wonder when this is what they are up to.
