All-new Skoda Fabia revealed showing design inspiration from the recent Vision C show car, suggestions Fabia RS will be dropped.

HOT ON THE HEELS of the recent Mazda2 reveal comes this design sketch of the new Skoda Fabia. Drawing inspiration from the Vision C show car, the Fabia will be wider and shorter, but with more room inside, Skoda says.

According to Skoda’s 2013 annual report, the all-new Fabia is expected to be shown in the metal sometime around Spring this year, but it won’t officially hit the road until 2015. And, according to an interview in Auto Express, Skoda’s head of development, Dr Frank Welsch, has hinted the hot-hatch Fabia RS might be dropped from the range because of poor sales in Europe.

“The truth is people love the RS, but they don’t buy it – compared to the price of a normal Fabia it’s too much,” he told Auto Express.

“We’ve been planning the Fabia alongside the Rapid and Octavia, so it will not change too much in terms of size.

“It will get a totally new design, with optimised proportions, so it will be slightly wider and lower and more attractive, but it will stay a very compact car.”

We’ll share more information as it comes to hand.
