Mitsubishi has teased two design sketches of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S ahead of its reveal at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.

Mitsubishi unveiled its current-generation Outlander PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and so it’s only fitting it unveil the Outlander PHEV Concept-S which it says “magnifies the Outlander PHEV’s unique driving experience,” and promises “a refined interior and exterior design”.

Mitsubishi hasn’t released any other details about the Outlander PHEV Concept-S but doubtless these will be dripped out over the next few weeks in the lead up to the full reveal in October at the Paris Motor Show.

Mitsubishi teases Outlander PHEV Concept-S

It’s highly likely the Outlander PHEV Concept-S will be styling changes only and so will carry over the drivetrain from the current model. And that means a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 87kW (at 4500rpm) and 186Nm of torque (at 4500rpm). The internal-combustion engine is joined by two electric motors, a 60kW/137Nm motor at the front, and a 60kW/195Nm motor at the back. This is enough oomph to get the Outlander PHEV from 0-100km/h in 11.0 seconds.

The 2014 Paris Motor Show begins on 2 October.
