Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo RV on-sale in 2017 from $69,990+ORC

The Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo Activity RV will go on-sale next year from $69,990+ORC with the order books open now.

TRADING OFF Australia’s love affair with RVs, Mercedes-Benz will launch its Marco Polo Activity onto the local market next year, priced from $69,990+ORC. Recently launched into Europe, the Marco Polo Activity offers driver and passenger seats that can swivel, with a rear three-bench seat that be removed to make a large storage space, or folded down to form a bed. The lie-down area is approximately 1.93m x 1.35m.

As you can see in the images, there’s a pop-top in the roof which once popped reveals another bed, which is able to hold up to 200kg and has mesh windows. The maximum standing height with the roof open is approximately 2350mm.

The Marco Polo Activity also features an auxiliary heater that can be programmed to preheat the vehicle and keep it warm when the vehicle is stationary.

There’s also a folding table, a turbo-diesel engine and seven-speed automatic transmission, driver and front passenger front airbags, thorax-pelvis and curtain airbags, Crosswind Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, ADAPTIVE ESP, reversing camera, Adaptive Brake lights, light and rain sensors and Active Parking Assist with front and rear park sensors. There are two batteries with cut-off relay for the second battery. This allows users to tap into the second battery without draining the starter battery.

Non-standard features include a manual side awning, Black Lugano leather upholstery, seven-seater configuration and 18-inch alloy wheels.

QUESTION: Would you go for something like this, or a purpose built camper van?

Smart move by MB. I would rather have a factory engineered unit. Too bad these things are not that reliable.
