The 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon saw Mazda reveal several performance-oriented concepts, including this 2015 Mazda CX-3 Racing Concept.

KICKING OFF at the same time as the Detroit Motor Show, the Tokyo Auto Salon saw Mazda reveal several performance-oriented concepts, including the 2015 Mazda CX-4 Racing Concept.

Reports suggest the CX-3 Racing Concept is a toe in the water and hints at the possibility of a high-performance CX-3, although officially the concept was there to show off accessories only. Although Auto Car is quoting a “spokesman” who revealed that Mazda is “planning some sporty versions of the CX-3 and Mazda2”. We’ll see.

Mazda CX-3 Racing Concept revealed

The CX-3 Racing Concept got bodykit with red accents, a red-trimmed griller, some graphics and other sundry bits and bobs; it sits on gloss black 19-inch alloys wrapped in 225/45-section Bridgeston Potenza S001 rubber with red brake callipers. The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted the CX-3 Racing Concept sits lower; it gets adjustable suspension, a racing air intake kit and a sports muffler.

It’s unlikely Mazda Australia will offer any of this equipment locally. Shame.

  1. Great, mow make it AWD and put a turbo on it and you might be able to call it a sports car, until then it’s only a FWD with plastic tacked on.
