Isuzu MU-X to compete in 2015 Dakar Rally
Isuzu Motorsports has announced it will campaign a 2014 Isuzu MU-X in the 2015 Dakar Rally in South America which runs from 7-17 January 2015.
THE ISUZU Motorsports MU-X will compete in the International T2 calls for slightly modified production vehicle and is based on a MU-X LS-M model and will see its standard engine tweaked to produce 180kW and 600Nm, up from 130kW and 380Nm.
Behind the wheel of the MU-X at Dakar will be new Isuzu Motorsports driver Adrian Di Lallo, with Harry Suzuki alongside in the navigator’s seat for his fifth Dakar Rally. It will be Di Lallo’s second Dakar Rally – he campaigned in 2013 finishing 38th outright behind the wheel of an Isuzu Motorsports prepared D-Max.
“I’m very excited about driving the new MU-X … it feels really strong and stable – a credit to the boys who’ve prepared it,” Di Lallo said.
“The car’s got what it takes to finish, obviously it’ll be really challenging, but we have the right equipment and a very good chance at placing well in the production class and we’ll be doing our absolute best,” he added.
The 2015 Dakar Rally will see the teams cover 8500 kilometres, over 15 competitive stages, through three countries; Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. To illustrate the physical, mental and mechanical stress the event dishes out, last year 713 competitors from 51 nations pursued glory with half failing to finish.
