GWM Ora launches with one of the cheapest capped-price servicing programs for Australia’s cheapest electric car.
If you’re looking for the cheapest electric car to buy and run in Australia, the GWM Ora is it.
GWM is launching its Ora EV with one of Australia’s cheapest servicing costs of any car on sale today. The lower price per visit is not unusual for an electric car, which has far fewer wear parts compared to a combustion engine vehicle, but at less than $100 a visit the capped price service program stands out.
Capped at $99 for the first five service visits intervals are required every 12 months or 15,000km, meaning nearly all owners will only be visiting the service center only once per year unless they drive long kays. This price is more competitive than rivals such as the Nissan Leaf (with an average cost of $345 over five years) and the MG ZS EV – although it has longer 24 months/40,000km interval requirements (at an average $262 per visit over four years).
The five-star ANCAP safety-rated GWM Ora electric car is backed by GWM’s standard 7-year/unlimited km warranty which includes an 8-year battery warranty and 5-years of roadside assistance.
Value on servicing is complemented by an attractive driveaway price starting from $44,490 (state depending), making it Australia’s cheapest electric car, for now.
Putting one’s best foot forward on launch is increasingly important in Australia’s EV landscape, with MG positioning its ZS EV sharply and soon to launch the commendable MG 4 locally. At 4235mm long, 1825mm wide and 1603mm tall, the Ora is rather more in step with the Volkswagen ID 3 and Hyundai Kona Electric than the smaller Fiat 500 Electric.
