Britax Australia has announced the release of its Safe-n-Sound ISOFIX compatible infant car seats which are on-sale now.

HOT ON THE HEELS of Maxi-Cosi which became the first infant car seat company in Australia to offer a tethered ISOFIX compatible infant car seat, Britax Australia has released its own tethered, ISOFIX compatible infant car seat, the Safe-n-Sound Trufix. It has also re-engineered some of its existing seats.

Suitable from six months to 12 months (approximately) the Safe-n-Sound Unity Infant Carrier infant car seat has been engineered with ISOFIX attachment points, while the Platinum ISOFIX is suitable for infants up to four years. It has ISOFIX locators but can also be used with a lap sash belt for use in older vehicles.

The Safe-n-Sound Trufix is an ISOFIX-only seat suitable for infants from six months to four years, it can’t be used with a lap sash belt.

Britax Australia technical director Mike Lumley said: “The 2013 revision of the Australian and New Zealand child restraint systems provides high levels of safety equal or better to that of products globally. The main expected benefit from ISOFIX compatible child restraints is an improvement in fitment to the vehicle. Some parents are likely to find these new style child restraints easier to fit to vehicles, reducing the potential risk of incorrect instalment.”

Alternative seats are available from Maxi-Cosi which offers the Maxi-Cosi Mico AP ISOFIX infant car seat for use up to 12 months, and both the Maxi-Cosi Hera and Euro ISOFIX compatible car seats.
