The 2015 Mazda2 sedan has been confirmed for Australia and will go on-sale here later this year.

ABSENT FROM Australian roads since 2010, Mazda will again offer a small sedan in the form of the 2015 Mazda2 sedan, which will go on-sale later this year. Following from the Mazda6 and Mazda3 sedans, it features Mazda’s ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design language.

Mazda has today confirmed the Mazda2 sedan will be available with two transmission types, the six-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic and six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual, and with two 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine variants. The standard SKYACTIV-G petrol engine delivers 79kW and 139Nm, while the high-spec alternative delivers 81kW and 141Nm.

It offers fuel economy figures from as little as 4.9L/100km and Smart City Brake Support will be available as a cost-option across the range.

Mazda Australia’s managing director, Martin Benders said: “When we first saw the design for the Mazda2 sedan we decided it was a must-have car. Often B-segment sedans can lack style and design flow, but we believe the Mazda2 sedan is the best looking of its type in its segment. Having a stylish sedan on sale alongside a sporty hatch provides even more choice to light car buyers.”
