Offered for the first time in right-hand drive, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be revealed in full at the end of the year, according to a report by Autocar.

The next-generation Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been spied testing ahead of its reveal at the end of this year before going on-sale in right-hand drive markets from 2015, including Australia.

UK motoring magazine Autocar published spy images of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis yesterday revealing that despite being built in right-hand drive for the first time, it would not be following the Genesis sedan onto UK roads. Here in Australia, however, we will get the Genesis coupe and Hyundai intends for it to rival the BMW 6-Series.

While the Genesis sedan is offered with a variety of different engines, including an all-wheel drive 5.0-litre V8, Australia will make do with the front-wheel drive 3.8-litre V6 unit, but with 235kW and 400Nm it should have more than enough grunt to satisfy Aussie buyers. While pricing hasn’t been announced, the Genesis sedan is available for order now in Australia with pricing guess-stimated to be from $62,000 (+ORC).

While Hyundai is only fitting the right-hand drive Genesis sedan with a 3.8L V6, it will be interesting to see if the 5.0L V8 is offered on the Genesis Coupe. Stay tuned.

  1. Why do we in Australia pay 2-3 times the amount compared to the USA when we are closer to Korea than other countries??? Cars made in our neighboring countries should be cheaper for us!!
