GWM extends the appeal of its Ute range with the addition of a tray-equipped cab-chassis model.

GWM has increased its Ute offering with the addition of the Cannon-CC, or cab-chassis model.

The cab-chassis replaces the styleside tub with an aluminium tray for a small premium, and like rivals such as the Ford Ranger cab-chassis it will appeal to certain trade and primary producer (agricultural) buyers.

While dimensionally width and height are identical to the normal GWM Ute, the Cannon-CC adds 101mm length due to the 1730mm long by 1855mm wide tray which has a depth to the top of the sides of 235mm.

Payload for the cab-chassis model is 1130kg while the braked towing capacity remains at 3000kg. The same 2.0-litre diesel turbo engine continues to provide power at the rear (4×2 model) or all four (4×4 model) wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The claimed combined fuel consumption on the mandated government testing regime is 8.4L per 100km for the 4×2 model and 9.4L per 100km for the 4×4.

Pricing for the cab-chassis Cannon-CC brings a $1000 premium over the styleside models. Tradies and business buyers will get a sharper deal however with ABN pricing that knocks $1500 of the driveaway price.
