Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept revealed
The Dodge Challenger gets reimagined as an off-roader by Joey Ruiter. Meet the Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept.
MEET THE DODGE CHALLENGER A/T Untamed Concept which manages to blend muscle cars and off-roaders beautifully. Built by Joey Ruiter in the US, the man behind the Reboot Buggy in 2013, the Challenger A/T Untamed is still only a concept, but according to a release from Ruiter, the company hopes to offer it soon as a kit for not just the Challenger, but also the Mustang and Comaro.
“We pushed the performance, power and capabilities of the iconic Challenger from the street to the dirt. From body armor to racing seats, this ride is customized from top to bottom and ready for some serious use. No matter where you’re going, this car will get you there. So pick your road, we’ve got the car.” a statement read.
The Challenger A/T Untamed Concept gets new, long-travel suspension, bash plates underneath, rock sliders and bulging front and rear guards to accommodate the chunky all-terrain tyres. According to Ruiter, the Challenger A/T Untamed would get a graphics package and while we’re all hoping a 331kW/881Nm Hellcat engine would sit under the bonnet, Ruiter says it would more likely run a V6 to ensure better weight balance for off-road work.
As cool as the Challenger A/T Untamed Concept is, the Americans aren’t alone in all-terrain-ising their muscle cars and, back in 1972 Ford rolled out 432 XY Falcon 4x4s. It ran a 2.4-litre inline six-cylinder and had leaf springs all around. A flop, the XY Falcon 4×4 is, these days, much sought after with few of the original 432 still around. And that’s a shame, because it looks great. Yes?
