The 2015 Kia Sorento has been revealed overnight in South Korea, ahead of its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.

WHILE THE NEW 2015 Kia Sorento will make its official world debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 2, Kia has revealed, overnight, the all-new Sorento in South Korea. It goes on-sale in Australia in February 2015.

As the official preview images released earlier this month showed, the all-new Kia Sorento is a much bolder looking vehicle than its predecessor, which was launched here in 2009. The South Korean release of the Sorento, complete with Korean specifications and interior images reveals a new premium-looking dashboard dominated by a large centre-mounted touch screen, featuring a JBL audio system and sat-nav.

Australian specifications haven’t been confirmed, but South Korean specifications suggest the Sorento will be incredibly well equipped, with things like a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, push button start and a multi-position powered tail-gate (although we’re not exactly sure why you’d need that). A statement by Kia said the all-new Sorento would also feature stop-start technology and multiple drive modes, including a locking centre differential on all-wheel drive models.

Some of the big changes we already know about are that the Sorento sits on an 80mm-longer wheelbase at 2780mm and is 95mm longer overall than its predecessor at 4780mm, it also sits 15mm lower than before at just 1685mm.

So far engine variants for Australian models are unknown, with the South Korean market offering a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder. Australian-delivered vehicles are expected to offer bigger engines.
