A new look Mirage will land in Australia next year but not everything has changed.
MITSUBISHI HAS UNVEILED its updated Mirage in Thailand overnight in both hatch and sedan guise.
The small car has received Mitsubishi’s latest ‘Dynamic Shield’ face upfront that brings a larger grille, angular bumper creases and LED fog and light changes front and rear. Australia will only be taking the hatch, however, when it lands sometime in 2020.
The only passenger car Mitsubishi will offer among its SUV strong and light commercial lineup, the Japanese maker will be hoping this updated model can pull buyers from the Kia Picanto and Fiat 500 that lead sales in the segment.
Pricing starts at $13,490 plus on-road costs for the current base model with a manual transmission, though we’d expect the updated model to bump that up slightly.
New on the 2020 Mirage are 15-inch alloy wheels, white and yellow paint colour options and a revised interior. Inside we see a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and revised fabric seat trim options. This is still very much a point A to point B car, but with some nice mod cons.
Underneath the bonnet the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will carry on, producing 57kW and 100Nm through a five-speed manual or CVT transmission.
Mitsubishi Australia will announce pricing and specifications closer to Mirage’s launch next year.
