Toyota Australia has issued a recall for more than 40 2018-2019 Toyota Prius C vehicles because of the potential for the 12V auxiliary battery to stop charging.
Toyota is recalling 49 2018-2019 Toyota Prius C vehicles because of “improper soldering on the circuit board in the vehicles DC/DC converter”.
What this means is that should the solder fail then the auxiliary battery will stop charging. In its recall statement, Toyota said: “If the auxiliary battery stops charging, the warning lamps will illuminate to alert the driver of a hazard. Prolonged use of the vehicle may result in the hybrid system shutting down, increasing the risk of an accident due to a loss of drive”.
The vehicles affected were sold between March 2018 and March 2019. Toyota has said it will contact all affected owners “at their last known address, requesting the owner make an appointment at their preferred Toyota Dealer for inspection and replacement of the DC/DC converter, free of charge”.
