The first-ever 2020 Skoda Superb Scout has been revealed at the Ice Hockey World Championships following in the wheel tracks of the VW Passat Alltrack.
Until now, Skoda’s resisted the pull to add something a little more rugged to its flagship Superb. Last weekend’s unveiling of the new Superb, Superb iV and Superb Scout addressed that matter.
Sharing its platform with the Passat, the Skoda Superb Scout is only available as an all-wheel drive wagon with a unique Tangerine Orange colour scheme and a RoughRoad pack that increases the ride height by 15mm. There’s also underbody protection and the RoughRoad pack sees an Off-Road mode added the Driving Mode Select system which tweaks things like transmission, throttle response and the ABS for improved performance on dirt roads.
The Superb Scout is being offered with two engines, a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine making 140kW and 400Nm of torque with a seven-speed DSG getting power to the ground. The 2.0 TSI petrol engine makes 200kW and 350Nm of torque and is also matched to a seven-speed DSG.
The main exterior changes are in the form of the enlarged grille and new front and rear bumpers. The bumpers get a Scout-specific aluminium-look underbody protection. There are also pumped strips around the wheel arches, doors and side sills, the wing mirrors are aluminium look and there are Scout badges scattered around the vehicle.
On the inside are wood-effect strips, fabric seats as standard with Alcantara seats as a cost-option. The front seats are heated as standard while the rear outboard seats can be cost-optionally heated. There’s a Sleep package available which sees the back seats get larger headrests and a blanket; the boot offers 660 to 1950 litres. The tail-gate is manual lift but a powered tailgate is available as a cost option.
