Victoria Police add 15 VW Passat 206 TSI Proline Wagons to highway patrol fleet
Victoria Police has added 15 Passat 206 TSI Proline Wagons to its highway patrol and specialist divisions fleets, forms part of larger 265 vehicle order.
Victoria Police has ordered 15 “specially adapted” Passat 206 TSI Proline Wagons for its highway patrol and specialist divisions fleets. This order forms part of a larger 265 Volkswagen vehicles order taking the total number of VW vehicles to be supplied to Victoria Police to 467 since 2016.
The term ‘Proline’ is used by VW to distinguish emergency vehicles.
In adapting the Passats to VicPol’s requirements, Volkswagen said it fitted an upgraded alternator (180amp) to assist with the running on-board equipment. According to VW, it’s local team worked with the factory R&D team in Wolfsburg on a second battery setup and a bespoke wiring loom, the latter made by Lumen Australia. The Passat Proline 132TSI Wagons will be the most visible being marked for general duties. Sedans are used in the unmarked fleet with covert lights.
In making the announcement, Ben Wilks, Volkswagen Australia’s General Manager Sales, Passenger Vehicles thanked Victoria Police for its “resounding endorsement of one of our brand’s pillars”.
