The all-electric Volkswagen e-buggy concept has been revealed ahead of its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Volkswagen is resurrecting the classic Beetle-based Meyers Manx dune buggy, this time, however, it’s all-electric and based on the brand’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB). The brand has revealed an image of the e-buggy concept with a full reveal planned for the Geneva Motor Show in March.

According to Klaus Bischoff, Head Designer at Volkswagen, “A buggy is more than a car. It is vibrancy and energy on four wheels. These attributes are embodied by the new e-buggy, which demonstrates how a modern, non-retro interpretation of a classic can look and, more than anything else, the emotional bond that electric mobility can create”.

Just like the original Meyers Manx buggy, the e-buggy has no fixed roof or conventional doors, the wheels are fitted with off-road tyres and open side sills dominate the look. According to VW, its MEB allows for the development of low-volume niche series, and Autocar is reporting the e-buggy is under “active consideration” for release.

Question: Show Volkswagen release the e-buggy?
