Volkswagen Tarok Concept revealed in Brazil…production version coming soon
The Volkswagen Tarok Concept has been revealed at the Sao Paolo Motor Show in Brazil with a production version said to have “potential…in other global markets”.
The Volkswagen Tarok Concept has been revealed at the Sao Paolo Motor Show in Brazil overnight. It’s claimed to be a mix of an urban SUV and an off-road capable ute. Think of it as a baby Amarok then.
At the motor show, VW said it will be releasing a production version of the Tarok for that market with “barely any changes” and that it will be launched first with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder enginee (the Concept features a 1.4L turbo petrol). More than that, VW said: “The avant-garde pick-up also has the potential to boost Volkswagen’s model range in other global markets”. It runs a six-speed automatic and VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive.
Sitting below the Amarok, the Tarok offers a, “Targa-inspired roof bar, charismatic front end, three-dimensional LED lighting strip in the rear, and powerful yet stylish side panels, the Tarok Concept’s expressive design makes it the first pick-up to combine the stylistic elements of an urban SUV with an authentic off-road design,” said Klaus Bischoff, Head Designer at Volkswagen.
A clever and practical design feature is the Tarok’s adjustable load space which sees the sees the bottom of the passenger cab’s rear bulkhead to be folded down. The maximum load is around 1000kg.
Whether it’ll make it to the production version remains to be seen but the Concept features Volkswagen’s glass-covered Infotainment system, digital air conditioning controls and a Digital Cockpit.
