The refreshed 2019 Ford Everest has been detailed ahead of its launch here later this year, it adds a 10-speed automatic, AEB, a 3100kg towing capacity and more.

THE REFRESHED 2019 Ford Everest has been detailed a day after Ford announced changes to the Ford Ranger. Speaking about the update, Graeme Whickman, President and CEO, Ford Australia, said: “Everest is still a relatively new nameplate in Australia, but we’ve seen a positive response from customers as we’ve honed the line-up based on their passionate feedback.

“The response has been fantastic, and we’re grateful that our Australian-led designed and engineered Everest has become a choice for off-road enthusiasts as well as those looking to tow their weekend project. We’ve found Everest owners are a dedicated, passionate group, and we’re pleased it evokes such a response.”

As announced on Ranger yesterday, the refreshed Everest gets AEB which is operational down to 3.6km/h and is standard on both Trend and Titanium variants. Keyless entry and push-button start comes standard across the MY19 Everest range, while Trend and Titanium variants also get a powered tailgate. SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is now standard across the Everest range, including Bluetooth, an 8.0-inch full colour touchscreen and reversing camera.

The exterior changes are minor, extending to a new grille and chrome brightwork as well as new HID headlights as standard on Trend. On the inside, there’s greater use of soft-touch materials, contrast stitching and shadow chrome highlights depending on the variant.

Ford’s new 2.0-litre bi-turbo engine (fitted to the Ranger Raptor and Ranger and now Everest – AWD and RWD) is now standard on Titanium and cost-optional on Trend, it makes 157kW and 500Nm of torque and is mated to a 10-speed automatic. The 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine continues on and is mated to a six-speed automatic and is standar on Everest Ambiente and Trend.

“Everest fitted with the new Bi-Turbo and 10-speed automatic raises the bar when it comes to vehicle refinement and outright capability both on and off road,” said Chief Program Engineer, Ford Everest, John Willems.

“Increased power and torque means we have more potential but it’s the mating of the bi-turbo to our new 10-speed automatic that really provides access to, and the greatest use of, the Bi-Turbo’s impressive output.” he added.

Ford hasn’t announced pricing yet, but you can expect incremental price changes. Nor has the company announced an on-sale but the Ranger will be here in September. Of course, the refreshed Everest gets Ford’s 5-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, as standard.
