Abarth 124 GT revealed with hard top…can be removed
The Abarth 124 GT with a removable hard top has been revealed ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
THE ABARTH 124 GT will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next week boasting a removable carbon fibre hardtop which weighs just 16kg. But, unlike Mazda’s origami-esque RF roof, the hard top for the 124 needs to be removed and stored separately when the sun’s out.
The hardtop is lined on the inside and features a demister in the “large rear window”. Abarth says the hardtop improves the torsional rigidity of the car. In addition to the hardtop, there are 17-inch OZ Ultra-Light alloys which weigh around 3kg less than the standard wheels.
But that’s it. The engine is the same, so that means a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder making 125kW and 250Nm of torque.
There’s no word yet on whether the hardtop will be available in Australia or what it might cost but we’ve asked the question. Stay tuned.
