Refreshed Ford Everest range sees the debut of five-seat Ambiente RWD from $47,990+ORC and a price cut for some variants.

FORD HAS REVEALED its five-seat, rear-wheel drive Everest Ambiente with prices starting at $47,990+ORC for the new variant, with a third-row cost-optionally available for $1000. The Everest is now available with five-seats, seven-seats, RWD and 4WD.

“The addition of the five-seat Everest gives more Australians access to an award-winning SUV with five-star safety, space for the whole family and genuine off-road ability,” said Graeme Whickman, Ford Australia President and CEO.

The 2WD Ambiente matches the look of its 4×4 sibling with all Everest Ambientes getting running boards for 2017; although these are likely to be taken straight off again by those planning to take their Everest off-roading.

The Everest Ambiente 1050L of cargo space behind the second row 60:40 split-fold seat, as well as second-row air-conditioning and heater controls on the rear of the centre console for backseat passengers. “When fitted with the optional third row seat, the Everest Ambiente also offers five child-seat anchor points, with two ISOFIX anchor points in the second row,” Ford said.

The Everest Ambiente RWD, like other models in the range, runs SYNC 3, Ford’s communications and infotainment systems, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It also has a reversing camera.

The Everest Ambiente RWD offers the same 3000kg braked towing capacity as the Everest 4WD and comes with trailer pre-wiring as standard, and is covered by Ford’s New Car Warranty. Trailer Sway Control is also standard.

The 2017 Ford Everest Trend now comes standard with seven-seats and 18-inch alloy wheels, sat-nav with traffic management (which used to be an option), SYNC 3 and, like the Ambiente, an 8.0-inch touchscreen and full-colour reversing camera. It also offers Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Forward Collision Alert (FCA). There’s also automatic high-beam control, dual-zone climate control and second-row air vents. A Power Tailgate is standard, operated via the key fob or a dash-mounted switch.

The flagship Titanium offers 4WD and seven seats, with electrically-folding third-row seating and powered panoramic sunroof. There’s also eight-way power driver and front passenger seats. The Everest Titanium is distinguishable by its HID headlights and LED daytime running lights. It rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and chromed door handles and side mirrors are also standard on the Titanium.

  1. Still too expensive. Why would I buy a seperate chassis SUV with 2WD, drives like a truck and can’t go off road?
