2018 Honda Civic Type R revealed… here later this year
The 2018 Honda Civic Type R has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, and will arrive Down Under later this year.
THE 2018 HONDA CIVIC TYPE R has been revealed overnight at the Geneva Motor Show boasting a tweaked version of the brand’s 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 235kW and 400Nm of torque (in European spec). It is mated to a six-speed manual that offers rev-matching.
In a short statement, Honda said the new Civic Type R “takes the lighter, more rigid body shell of the new Civic hatch and adds further use of adhesive in key areas. Compared to the previous Type R, torsional rigidity is further improved by 38%”.
The Civic Type R offers a tweaked driving mode system offering a Comfort setting, as well as Sport and the track-oriented +R modes. “Each selection tailors the adaptive dampers, steering force, gear shift feeling and throttle response of the car on demand,” Honda said.
The Civic Type R will be built in the UK which is the global manufacturing hub for the new Civic hatch. The Honda Civic Type R will go on sale in Australia later in 2017, with full specifications and features to be announced closer to launch.
Looks like the exterior was styled by Subaru. Honda should hire someone from Audi and learn the art of elegance. I mean look at any S Audi. They look like they mean business but this thing is just hideous.
