The all-new Lexus RC will make its world debut at the Tokyo motor show on November 20, with two versions unveiled – the RC 350, with a 3.5-litre V6 engine, and the RC 300h hybrid, with a 2.5-litre unit.

Lexus reckons the RC will, in their words, “bring to life Lexus’s focus on giving its cars emotional appeal”. And about time, some would say.

There’s no doubt the RC is a good-looker and Lexus believes it will raise the brand’s profile with a wider audience and bring new customers into the Lexus fold, and they could well be right.

The RC bears a family-resemblance to the IS coupe, but design elements do set it apart and make it look much more enticing, and even the triangular headlamps seen on the earlier LF-LC concept car make it to the street version.

The RC features strong but lightweight aluminium wheels with two designs on offer: a deeply sculpted, 10-spoke 19-inch wheel and a five-spoke 18-inch version. Both are precision-machined and finished with black and platinum caps.

The four-seat interior of the RC features purpose-designed lighting with illumination that reflects upwards rather than down, to envelop the cabin. Interior trim includes shimamoku highlights – a real wood finish created using an intense layering technique.

The RC is 4695mm long, 1, 40mm wide and 1395mm high, with a 2730mm wheelbase.

No confirmed date yet for Australian launch of the Lexus RC, and Lexus have not released pricing details, but Practical Motoring readers will be among the first to know, once we get more information.
