New Honda NSX delayed until 2016
Overnight it’s been revealed that the new Honda NSX won’t be released until 2016 and be launched instead as a 2017 model.
THE NEW HONDA NSX has been a long time coming. Around 10 years. And now it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for Honda’s new supercar with production kicking off early next year instead of late this year as originally planned.
Why the change in plans? Apparently a decision to change the engine from a naturally-aspirated V6 engine to a twin turbocharged V6 meant delays in the production process. This engine is mated to three electric motors. The NSX will be all-wheel drive.
At the Detroit Motor Show in January, Honda announced deliveries of the NSX would begin this year. But that’s not to be. This delay will also push back the Australian arrival of the NSX which was expected next year but now might not be until 2017, although Honda isn’t saying anything.
Hopefully, the delay in getting its halo car to Australia might allow Honda Australia to work on getting the Honda Civic Type R here which at the time of writing still hadn’t been confirmed.
