The Kia Sportspace has been revealed ahead of its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March – it hints at the next-gen Optima.

KIA HAS RELEASED a set of images showing off its SPORTSPACE concept which the Korean car maker says is “a new breed of grand tourer”. Previewing the next-generation Kia Optima, the SPORTSPACE concept suggests the Optima will be offered for the first time in wagon form.

Designed at Kia’s Frankfurt design studio, under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Kia’s European design boss, the SPORTSPACE is a stunning looking concept that shouldn’t, at least we hope, need to change too much to make it into production.

“We set out to design a car that is a totally new breed of grand tourer – one for active people who need reasonable cargo space on the weekend, but don’t want to compromise moving around in style, comfort and with an element of sportiness,” Guillaume said.

Beyond this, details about the SPORTSPACE are few and far between but we expect Kia to dribble out some more information before the official reveal in Geneva. Stay tuned.
