Why does it exist?
The new batteries were created to meet the increasing demand for faster and more efficient charging solutions in the EV market. Range anxiety is a common concern among EV users, and Zeekr’s upgraded LFP batteries address this issue by significantly reducing charging times. The batteries use optimised materials and advanced technology that outperforms traditional nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries.
The enhanced battery management system (BMS) ensures stable and fast charging, even in harsh environmental conditions. For example, at temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius, the vehicles can still charge from 10% to 80% SOC within 30 minutes.
How will it help?
By reducing charging times to just 10.5 minutes for a significant portion of the battery, Zeekr is minimising downtime and making electric vehicles more convenient as more drivers hit the road and need to use charging stations.
Additionally, Zeekr is expanding its charging infrastructure to support this new technology. With over 500 ultra-fast charging stations already in operation across China, and plans to increase this number to 1000 stations by 2024, Zeekr is looking to have a comprehensive charging network. The company aims to have over 10,000 ultra-fast charging piles in operation by 2026.
Zeekr has also announced the delivery of the urban Navigation Zeekr Pilot (NZP) starting in September. This feature will provide intelligent driving assistance on urban roads.
