2018-19 Mazda6, CX-5 and Mazda3 recalled because of potential engine failure
More than 18,000 2018-19 model-year Mazda6, CX-5 and Mazda3 vehicles have been recalled because of potential engine failure issues.
Mazda has issued a recall notice for 18,719 2018-19 model-year Mazda3, CX-5 and Mazda6 vehicles because of potential engine failure issues. This recall comes days after Mazda issued a recall for the Mazda3 because of the potential for its wheels to fall off.
The recall notice said, “The Power-Train Control Module (PCM) software which controls the cylinder deactivation function may not operate correctly, and may cause an Intake Valve Rocker Arm to move out of position and make contact with other internal engine parts”.
According to Mazda, owners will notice an engine malfunction light illuminate on the dash, the engine will then potentially lose power and stall without the ability to be restarted.
Mazda will reach out to owners of the 18,719 vehicles and request they contact their “preferred Mazda Dealer to reprogram the PCM at no charge”.
