Refreshed 2016 Mazda BT-50 spied
A single spy-shot of the 2016 Mazda BT-50 has appeared on Thailand-based forums, with the front-end of the ute copping the most change.
IF THIS SPY SHOT IS anything to go by then the 2016 Mazda BT-50 will follow in the footsteps of recently refreshed Mazda models and has copped the KODO design treatment. The current BT-50 has been criticised for its love it, or hate it design and this new looks is clearly an attempt to ‘toughen’ the look of the BT-50.
Gone are the pulled-back headlight, replaced by smaller, squarer-set units with a smaller grille with chrome accent and a centrally-mounted badge. Nothing is known about the interior, although given the outside of the car looks more like the passenger models, it’s likely the 2016 BT-50 will get the Mazda MZD Connect infotainment system.
Mazda isn’t saying anything about the new BT-50, but we know full well that the Mazda ute shares its chassis with the Ford Ranger which will be released in the coming months. Engines are likely to carry over from before.
Below is a current Mazda BT-50 for comparison.
Spy shot of the new BT50, what a cheap and tacky change to the existing model. The exact same shapes are still existing but they’re just a different colour that try to make a different look…….albeit not very successfully. I think it’s even more feminine than before. Come on Mazda, can’t you make a truck fit for a bloke!
Hi Champ, I get what you’re saying, but it looks a whole lot better than the current BT-50.
Its all about personal choice as I like the current shape as its radical and not that boring yanky borrowed look like most of the utes……yeah so its might not sell as well as the others but Mazda doesn’t rely on govo or fleet sales
You’re right, David. I guess the thing most people go off is that it looks so different to the other boofy looking utes on the market…
Gosh, thats a serious let down Mazda…. Think id rather get a tricked up current model and pocket some $. Just put a better front end on it for gods sake, you’ve already designed a few…
